The Wild Inside
We are born as animals. As the years pass we gain our humanity through learning how to write, how to dress appropriately, how to drive, and how to pay bills and taxes. We trade our wings for hands, our fangs for pockets of coins, our tails for books and screens. The child, in metamorphosis, still feels a likeness with the wild that adults only grasp like a melancholic dream. The natural world, its characters, its stories, heal the soul for us all, and doubly so for children.
The Idaho Elks Children’s Pavilion at St. Luke’s is the meeting place of tested Western medicine and the fleeting magical imagination of youth. With acknowledgment and respect for the stresses of visiting a health facility as a kid, we have transformed The Idaho Elks Children’s Pavilion at St. Luke’s into an immersive and whimsical experience of nature and its creatures.
From multiple larger-than-life sculptures and interactive play structures to integrated graphics and hundreds of wayfinding elements, each floor comes alive with imagery found in Idaho's great outdoors.
